Larimar is a blue-turquoise stone streaked with white, resembling ocean waves. Composed mainly of pectolite, it is found only in the Dominican Republic. Discovered in 1974, its name combines 'Larissa' (the discoverer's daughter) and 'mar', referring to its sea-like color. Local legend associates it with the lost beaches of Atlantis, giving it a mystical aura.
