Amber

Amber is a fossilized resin ranging from golden-yellow to brown or reddish, translucent and warm to the touch. It forms over millions of years from plant resins, often containing insect or plant inclusions. Major deposits are found in the Baltic Sea, Dominican Republic, and Myanmar. Used since Prehistory for jewelry and amulets, it was called 'tears of the gods' by Greeks and 'sun resin' by Nordic peoples. Amber burns with a resinous scent and was historically used in shamanic practices to light ritual fires.
